Traditional Naturopathy in Matthews, NC
A Whole-Person Approach to Understanding Your Wellness
Sometimes you know something feels off, but looking at one symptom at a time doesn’t seem to tell the whole story.
At Fire & Ice Holistic Health in Matthews, NC, traditional naturopathic wellness consultations take a broader approach.
Rather than focusing on one isolated concern, Ashley looks at patterns involving nutrition, digestion, hydration, stress, sleep, lifestyle, nervous system regulation, elimination, movement and other factors that may influence how you feel.
The goal is not to chase symptoms.
The goal is to look for patterns, strengthen the foundations of health and create an individualized plan that makes sense for you.
What Is Traditional Naturopathy?
Traditional naturopathy is a holistic wellness philosophy centered around supporting the foundations that help the body function well.
That may include attention to:
-
Nutrition
-
Hydration
-
Digestion
-
Elimination
-
Sleep
-
Movement
-
Stress
-
Nervous system regulation
-
Environmental influences
-
Lifestyle habits
-
Nutrient intake
-
Daily routines
Instead of asking only:
“What symptom do you have?”
we also ask:
“What patterns might be contributing to how you’re feeling?”
Traditional naturopathic wellness does not replace medical care, diagnosis or treatment.
It provides another lens through which to examine lifestyle and wellness patterns and identify practical areas where additional support may be helpful.
The Fire & Ice Difference: Triangulating Patterns
No single scan, test or wellness assessment tells the entire story.
That is why Ashley uses a triangulation approach.
Instead of relying on one modality, information is gathered from several different sources and compared for patterns.
When multiple pieces of information begin pointing in the same direction, they can provide a more useful picture of where to focus first.
Depending on the client, your consultation may incorporate information from:
Your Health & Symptom History
We start with you.
Your history, current concerns, daily habits, previous experiences, goals and what you have already tried provide important context.
Nutrition & Lifestyle Review
We may look at eating patterns, protein intake, hydration, meal timing, sleep, movement, stress, digestion, elimination and other daily habits.
Often the basics tell us more than people expect.
RBTI
RBTI, or Reams Biological Theory of Ionization, is one of the wellness assessment frameworks Ashley may use to explore patterns related to body chemistry and lifestyle.
RBTI is used as an educational wellness tool rather than as a medical diagnostic test.
Iridology
Iridology involves observing patterns and characteristics of the iris within a traditional holistic wellness framework.
It is not used to diagnose disease.
Instead, it may provide another piece of information to consider alongside your history and other wellness observations.
Muscle Response Testing
Muscle response testing may be used as another complementary wellness tool during some consultations.
It is never treated as a standalone diagnosis or definitive medical test.
Instead, results are considered alongside other information.
AO Scan Biofeedback
AO Scan technology may be incorporated as a biofeedback-based wellness tool.
Biofeedback information can provide another perspective for discussion and education, but it does not replace laboratory testing, medical imaging or diagnosis by a licensed medical provider.
Face, Tongue & Nail Observations
Traditional wellness systems have long paid attention to physical characteristics such as the tongue, nails and skin.
These observations may be considered as part of the broader wellness picture.
Supplement Review
More supplements are not automatically better.
If you already take vitamins, herbs or other wellness products, we can review what you are using, why you are taking it and whether your routine has become unnecessarily complicated.
Existing Lab Work
If you already have laboratory results from your physician or another licensed medical provider, Ashley may review them with you from a nutrition and wellness-education perspective.
Abnormal medical findings should always be discussed with the appropriate licensed healthcare provider.
Why Use More Than One Wellness Tool?
Because bodies are complicated.
One symptom can have many possible influences.
One wellness assessment can also be misleading when it is considered by itself.
That is why Fire & Ice does not build an entire wellness plan around one scan, one muscle test or one observation.
Instead, Ashley looks for agreement between multiple pieces of information.
Your history may suggest one pattern.
Your food intake may reinforce it.
Your digestion may provide another clue.
A wellness assessment may point in a similar direction.
When several pieces line up, we have a much better place to begin.
That is triangulation.
Foundations First
One of the most important principles at Fire & Ice is simple:
We build the foundation before trying to do everything else.
It is tempting to jump immediately into complicated protocols, expensive testing or a cabinet full of supplements.
Sometimes that is not where someone needs to begin.
Your initial plan may focus on very basic things such as:
-
Eating enough protein
-
Improving meal quality
-
Increasing food variety
-
Supporting hydration
-
Establishing regular bowel movements
-
Improving sleep habits
-
Supporting digestion
-
Managing stress
-
Practicing nervous system regulation
-
Improving movement
-
Simplifying an overwhelming supplement routine
Basic does not mean unimportant.
Sometimes the most meaningful changes begin with getting the fundamentals working better.
What Can We Explore During a Holistic Health Consultation?
Clients come to Fire & Ice for many different reasons.
Some simply want a more thoughtful approach to wellness.
Others feel overwhelmed by conflicting health information and want help deciding where to begin.
Consultations may explore wellness patterns involving:
-
Digestive wellness
-
Stress
-
Sleep
-
Energy
-
Nutrition
-
Hydration
-
Elimination
-
Lifestyle habits
-
Nervous system regulation
-
Supplement routines
-
Food patterns
-
General wellness goals
These consultations are educational and wellness-focused and are not intended to diagnose or treat disease.
If something warrants medical evaluation, you may be encouraged to follow up with an appropriate licensed healthcare professional.
Your First Consultation
Step 1: Tell Me Your Story
We begin with what has been happening.
What are you noticing?
When did it begin?
What have you already tried?
What does a typical day look like?
What are you hoping to change?
Step 2: Look for Patterns
Next, we look at the bigger picture.
Depending on your needs, this may include nutrition, digestion, hydration, stress, sleep, bowel habits, lifestyle, supplements and complementary wellness assessments.
Step 3: Triangulate the Information
Instead of treating one finding as “the answer,” we compare information from multiple sources.
The goal is to identify patterns that consistently appear across your history and wellness assessments.
Step 4: Establish Priorities
You do not leave with 37 things to change.
We identify the areas that make the most sense to work on first.
Step 5: Build a Personalized Wellness Plan
Recommendations may include nutrition strategies, lifestyle changes, hydration goals, stress-support practices, food recommendations, supplement considerations or other wellness education.
Your plan is based on you — not a generic protocol downloaded from the internet.
You Don’t Need to Have Everything Figured Out Before You Come
A lot of people delay getting help because they think they need to know what is wrong first.
You don’t.
You also do not need:
-
A stack of laboratory work
-
A perfect diet
-
A diagnosis
-
A supplement cabinet
-
A complete health history organized into a spreadsheet
Come in with what you know.
We can start there.
A Practical Approach — Not an All-or-Nothing Wellness Overhaul
Holistic wellness should fit into your actual life.
If a recommendation is impossible to follow, wildly expensive or requires you to restructure your entire existence overnight, it probably will not help very much.
The goal is to create reasonable steps that can build over time.
Sometimes the first plan is intentionally simple.
Then we observe what changes.
And we adjust from there.
Traditional Naturopathy + Nervous System Regulation
Stress affects far more than mood.
Long periods of stress can influence sleep, appetite, digestion, breathing patterns, muscle tension and daily habits.
That is why nervous system regulation is often part of the broader conversation at Fire & Ice.
Ashley is also trained in breathwork and offers guided breathwork experiences for clients interested in developing greater awareness of stress patterns and learning practical regulation tools.
Traditional Naturopathy + Therapeutic Bodywork
Fire & Ice began as a therapeutic massage and bodywork practice.
That background creates a unique perspective.
Sometimes clients come in for holistic health support and also benefit from having a place where they can receive therapeutic massage, cupping, reflexology or other complementary wellness services.
You are never required to use every service.
But having multiple approaches available under one roof allows your wellness plan to remain flexible.

Ashley Biro is the founder of Fire & Ice Holistic Health and has worked in the wellness field since 2015.

She has also taught continuing education for massage professionals and has written multiple books.

Her work combines curiosity, education and individualized wellness support rather than one-size-fits-all protocols.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a naturopathic doctor?
No.
Ashley is a Certified Traditional Naturopath and holistic health practitioner.
Traditional naturopathy and naturopathic medicine practiced by a licensed Naturopathic Doctor are not the same thing.
Fire & Ice provides holistic wellness education and complementary wellness services and does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment.
Can you diagnose what is wrong with me?
No.
Traditional naturopathic consultations at Fire & Ice are not medical diagnostic appointments.
We can explore wellness patterns, nutrition, lifestyle and other factors and help identify areas you may want to support.
Medical diagnosis belongs with an appropriately licensed healthcare provider.
Do I need lab work before my appointment?
No.
If you already have recent laboratory results, you are welcome to bring them.
You do not need to purchase testing before your first consultation unless there is a specific reason to do so.
Do I have to buy supplements?
No.
Sometimes supplements may be discussed, but the goal is not to sell you a giant supplement protocol.
Food, hydration, sleep, stress, digestion and lifestyle often deserve attention first.
What is AO Scan?
AO Scan is a biofeedback-based wellness technology that may be incorporated into certain consultations as an educational wellness tool.
It is not medical imaging and should not be used to diagnose disease.
What is RBTI?
RBTI stands for Reams Biological Theory of Ionization.
Ashley may use RBTI as one of several traditional wellness assessment frameworks during a consultation.
It is considered alongside your history and other information rather than used as a standalone medical diagnosis.
Can I work with you while also seeing my doctor?
Absolutely.
Holistic wellness support does not need to replace conventional healthcare.
In many situations, the best approach is collaborative.

Your current supplement list
-
Medication list
-
Recent laboratory results
-
