Meet Ashley Biro
Massage Therapist. Traditional Naturopath. Holistic Health Practitioner. Educator. Author.
Hi, I’m Ashley Biro, founder of Fire & Ice Holistic Health in Matthews, North Carolina.
I’ve worked in the massage and wellness field for more than a decade, and if there is one thing those years have taught me, it is this:
People are rarely as simple as one symptom, one muscle, one test result, or one wellness trend.
My work began with therapeutic massage and bodywork and gradually expanded into traditional naturopathy, holistic health, nutrition and lifestyle education, nervous system regulation, breathwork, RBTI, biofeedback, iridology, muscle response testing, and other complementary wellness approaches.
Today, Fire & Ice brings those worlds together.
You can come here because your shoulders hurt.
You can come because you want someone to look at your wellness from a broader perspective.
You can come because you are overwhelmed and don’t know where to start.
You do not have to fit neatly into one box.
Neither do I.

More Than a Decade of Hands-On Experience
Massage was the foundation of Fire & Ice.
I have been a licensed massage and bodywork therapist in North Carolina for more than ten years and have trained extensively across therapeutic and clinical-style bodywork.
My massage background includes approaches such as:
-
therapeutic massage
-
deep tissue massage
-
neuromuscular techniques
-
trigger point therapy
-
myofascial techniques
-
orthopedic-style bodywork
-
prenatal massage
-
cupping and MediCupping
-
hot stone massage
-
reflexology
-
stretching and assisted movement
-
Reiki and complementary energy-based approaches
-
relaxation and nervous-system-focused bodywork
But I’ve never believed good massage comes from performing the exact same routine on every person.
Your body changes.
Your stress changes.
Your activity changes.
Your needs change.
The session should be able to change too.

An Educator as Well as a Practitioner
For years, I have not only practiced massage therapy—I have also taught other massage professionals.
My continuing-education teaching has included subjects such as:
-
cupping therapy
-
prenatal massage
-
hot stone massage
-
aromatherapy
-
massage ethics
-
spa treatments
-
foam rolling
-
additional massage and wellness techniques
I previously taught a comprehensive 14-hour cupping continuing-education course, as well as prenatal massage education that included positioning, precautions, draping, and stretching.
I also developed Thunderstorm Therapy, a trauma-aware touch and Reiki-inspired bodywork modality that incorporated elements of safe touch, relaxation, and nervous system support.
At one point, I even created The CE Box, a monthly subscription that delivered continuing-education materials and massage tools directly to massage professionals at home.
Education has always been part of my work.
I don’t just want to know what a technique is.
I want to understand why we use it, when it makes sense, when it doesn’t, and how to explain it in a way another person can actually understand.

Author & Published Wellness Educator
Writing became another extension of that work.
Under my former name, Ashley Dwyer, I authored Massage for Couples: Heal, Soothe, and Connect with the One You Love, a full-length guide designed to help couples use massage and intentional touch as a form of relaxation and connection.
I am also the author of Raising Well Balanced Kids and was a featured author in She Rises for Tomorrow.
My educational work has also included aromatherapy content for massage professionals created in collaboration with Simply Earth.
Much like my work with clients, my writing has always been about making complicated ideas feel approachable, practical, and usable in real life.
Featured Massage Expert in Women’s Health
My massage expertise has also been featured in Women’s Health magazine.
Publishing under my former name, Ashley Dwyer, I contributed as a massage expert to an article teaching readers how to give massage effectively and intentionally.
The article included my professional guidance on:
-
massage pressure
-
massage technique
-
consent
-
relaxation
-
stress relief
-
setting up a comfortable massage environment
-
safe product use
-
neck and back massage
-
connection through intentional touch
-
how massage can relate to the five love languages
My work has also been featured in other wellness media, podcasts, and local publications over the years.
Local Recognition & Community Roots
Fire & Ice has deep roots in the Matthews and Mint Hill community.
Before relocating away from the area for a period of time, Fire & Ice was voted Best of Mint Hill & Matthews Weekly for four consecutive years—2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
I was also featured by The Charlotte Weekly in local small-business coverage and have been involved with the local business community throughout different stages of Fire & Ice.
Today, the practice has returned to the Matthews area and continues serving clients from Matthews, Mint Hill, Charlotte, Indian Trail, Stallings, Monroe, and surrounding communities.
Fire & Ice has also earned 170+ five-star Google reviews, representing years of clients trusting me with their bodies, their stress, and their wellness.
That means more to me than any plaque sitting on a shelf.
Although I do apparently have a history of winning large breakable awards.
Community Matters to Me
My work has never been limited to what happens inside a treatment room.
Over the years, I have participated in community-focused projects, including creating pillowcases for children experiencing hair loss during cancer treatment.
I believe wellness work should ultimately make the community around us a little better.
Sometimes that happens through massage.
Sometimes it happens through education.
Sometimes it happens because a child going through an incredibly difficult experience deserves something soft, colorful, and made especially for them.
From Massage Therapy to Whole-Person Wellness
Massage was the beginning of Fire & Ice, but it eventually led me to a much bigger question:
Why?
Why does the same tension keep returning?
Why does someone constantly feel exhausted?
Why does digestion seem to affect everything else?
Why can two people follow the same wellness plan and have completely different experiences?
Why does stress sometimes show up as muscle guarding, headaches, poor sleep, digestive changes, shallow breathing, or an inability to relax?
The longer I worked with people, the more interested I became in the patterns beneath the symptoms.
That curiosity eventually led me deeper into holistic health and traditional naturopathy.
Today, my work incorporates training and education in areas such as:
-
traditional naturopathy
-
holistic health
-
nutrition and lifestyle wellness
-
RBTI
-
iridology
-
muscle response testing
-
AO Scan biofeedback
-
nervous system regulation
-
functional breathwork
-
complementary wellness assessment
-
homeopathic and traditional wellness approaches
Becoming a traditional naturopath did not mean leaving massage behind.
Instead, it gave me another lens through which to understand the people I was already working with.
My Approach: Look for the Pattern
One of the biggest things that makes my approach different is that I do not rely on one wellness tool to tell me everything.
An AO Scan is one piece of information.
An RBTI assessment is another.
Muscle response testing is another.
Iridology is another.
Your symptoms are another.
Your history matters.
Your food matters.
Your digestion matters.
Your sleep, stress, hydration, lifestyle, medications, supplements, and existing laboratory results matter too.
Instead of allowing one observation to become the entire story, I prefer to triangulate.
Depending on the person and the reason for the visit, I may look at information from several different areas, including:
-
detailed health and lifestyle history
-
current symptoms and recurring patterns
-
nutrition
-
hydration and mineral balance
-
digestion and elimination
-
sleep
-
stress
-
nervous system patterns
-
medications and supplements
-
existing laboratory results
-
RBTI
-
muscle response testing
-
AO Scan biofeedback
-
iridology
-
face, tongue, and nail observations
-
other complementary wellness tools when appropriate
Then I look for agreement.
What keeps showing up?
When several different pieces of information begin pointing toward the same foundational area, that gives us somewhere meaningful to start.
Complementary wellness assessments are not used to diagnose disease, replace laboratory testing, or replace medical care.
When something requires medical evaluation, I believe strongly in referring and collaborating appropriately.
Foundations First
Wellness has become incredibly complicated.
People sometimes walk through the door believing they need another elaborate protocol, twelve supplements, three cleanses, and a refrigerator full of things they hate eating.
Sometimes we need to start somewhere much less glamorous.
Are you eating enough?
Are you getting enough protein and nutrients?
Are you hydrated?
Are you eliminating regularly?
Are you sleeping?
Are you moving your body?
Is your nervous system constantly functioning as though something terrible is about to happen?
Are you taking supplements because they actually make sense for you — or because TikTok told you to?
The basics are not boring.
They are the foundation everything else is built upon.
My goal is not to make wellness more complicated.
It is to help make the next step clearer.
The Nervous System Became Part of the Bigger Picture
After years of working hands-on with people, another pattern became impossible for me to ignore:
Stress lives in the body.
It can show up as jaw tension.
Shoulders that never seem to relax.
Shallow breathing.
Muscle guarding.
Poor sleep.
Digestive changes.
Restlessness.
Fatigue.
Headaches.
Or simply the feeling that your body has forgotten how to slow down.
That recognition led me deeper into breathwork and nervous-system-focused education.
Today, Fire & Ice offers breathwork and nervous system regulation alongside massage and holistic wellness services.
Massage gives the body an opportunity to receive.
Breathwork gives you tools you can participate in yourself.
Holistic health allows us to step farther back and look at the bigger picture.
They are different approaches.
But sometimes they overlap in ways that are incredibly useful.

A Practice That Grew With Me
Fire & Ice began as Fire & Ice Therapeutic Massage.
Over time, my education, interests, and professional work expanded far beyond massage alone.
That growth eventually became Fire & Ice Holistic Health.
Massage is still an important part of what I do — and always will be.
It is also where I first learned one of the most important lessons of my career:
Listen before assuming you know what someone needs.
Traditional naturopathy allows me to ask more questions.
Holistic health gives us a wider lens.
Breathwork helps us explore another part of the relationship between mind and body.
And therapeutic massage still allows me to work directly with the person who simply walked through my door because their neck hurts.
There is room here for all of it.
Mind. Body. Spirit. Balance.
Collaboration Matters
I do not believe one practitioner should try to be everything for everyone.
Good wellness care sometimes means knowing when someone needs a different set of eyes.
Over the years, I have developed working relationships with professionals in the local community, including healthcare and chiropractic providers.
When something is outside my scope, needs medical evaluation, or may benefit from another type of care, I believe referral and collaboration are important.
Holistic care and conventional healthcare do not have to be opposing teams.
Sometimes the best approach is simply having the right professional answer the right question.
Education Beyond the Treatment Room
My work has reached far beyond the people who physically walk into Fire & Ice.
Through continuing education, books, business coaching, podcasts, media, online education, and social media, I have had the opportunity to teach and connect with people across the country.
Today, that includes an online audience of more than 40,000 followers on TikTok.
Whether I am speaking to thousands of people online, teaching another massage therapist, writing a book, or sitting across from one client, the philosophy is pretty much the same:
Stay curious. Ask better questions. Pay attention to the person in front of you.
Who Fire & Ice Is For
Fire & Ice may be a good fit for you if you:
-
want experienced, customized therapeutic massage
-
are looking for more than a cookie-cutter massage routine
-
are interested in whole-person wellness
-
want to better understand patterns in your health
-
appreciate education rather than fear-based wellness
-
are curious about traditional naturopathy
-
want support for stress and nervous system regulation
-
value someone who is willing to say, “I don't know yet — let's gather more information”
-
want personalized options without being pressured into every service available
And you do not have to use everything I offer.
A massage client can simply come here for massage.
A naturopathy client does not have to attend breathwork.
A breathwork participant does not have to become a holistic health client.
The tools exist to serve the person. The person does not exist to serve the tools.
Come As You Are
You do not need to arrive with everything figured out.
You don't need perfect labs.
You don't need the perfect diet.
You don't need to know whether you need deep tissue, cupping, RBTI, muscle testing, biofeedback, breathwork, or something else entirely.
Tell me what is going on.
Tell me what you have tried.
Tell me what you are hoping to change.
We can figure out the next question from there.
Ready to Begin?
Whether you are looking for therapeutic massage, holistic wellness guidance, traditional naturopathy, or nervous system support, there is a place to start.
