How Cold Weather Affects the Body (and Why You May Feel It Now)

Cold weather impacts the body in ways many people don’t immediately connect to how they’re feeling day to day.

When temperatures drop, the body responds by:

• tightening muscles to conserve heat

• slowing circulation, especially in the neck, shoulders, and extremities

• thickening lymphatic flow, making drainage less efficient

• increasing joint stiffness and inflammation

• keeping the nervous system more guarded and tense

This is why so many people notice headaches, neck and shoulder tightness, sinus pressure, jaw tension, fatigue, and a general sense of heaviness during and after cold spells.

Cold exposure combined with less movement and disrupted routines can leave the body feeling stuck rather than restored.

Massage and targeted bodywork help counter these effects by:

✓ increasing circulation and warmth in tight tissues

✓ supporting lymphatic movement and drainage

✓ releasing cold-related muscle tension

✓ calming the nervous system

✓ helping the body adapt and recover more efficiently

I currently have availability this week for:

• Therapeutic and lymphatic massage

• Headache, sinus, and jaw support

• Neck, shoulder, and upper back tension relief

• Nervous system regulation sessions

If you’re unsure which service would best support your body right now, feel free to reply to this email and I’ll be happy to help.

Cold weather encourages the body to hold on.The right support helps it let go.

Kind regards,

Ashley
